December 31st: It's 12:00 Happy New year! 2002! We made it. I didn’t do anything exceptional. I spent the night with my SO, and we kissed at midnight. ::Awww:: (`^_^´) I saw the ball drop on television, everybody seemed very patriotic. Red white and blue everywhere! Not much else to tell since I spent most of the day studying. (>_<) I can’t wait until this test is over! Urrgh.
January 1st: Well, I had to get up early today to go to my family’s “wine and cheese” party. ::Dies of boredom:: It’s a two hour car ride and I have motion sickness, so needless to say, the journey was pretty much endless. Once I was there it was listening to old people talk about their kids... But there was this one really entertaining really old man who was absolutely nuts! He told the hostess that her house was a dump, and kept commenting on all the fat people. ::Laughs so hard:: He’s my personal hero for the day. I can’t wait until I’m so old, I can’t say whatever the hell I want about anybody! Ooooooh. You will rue the day! ::Maniacal laughter:: Anyway, I got 60.00$ out of the occasion, so I’m happy.
After I got back, I ‘phoned my SO, who was supposed to be out clubbing, but one person canceled, so everybody else decided not to show up. (o_0) Strange bunch, those guys... Anyway, we ended up playing Evil Zone until 2:00AM, attempting to get each character’s sound events. I think we ended up with Eriel, Midori, Keiya, Al, Generic Narrator, and ... Uh... That’s it? I don’t really remember. It’s based on how many times you’ve played the character, so, since Eriel is hot- she was picked a lot, and she was automatically on the board. At first we were all puzzled, like “How did she get there?” So we tried playing through hard mode one player, to see if that made a difference- but it didn’t. We kept trying different characters through hard mode, none of them making any changes. By the end we were like “ARGH! What did we do with Eriel that we didn’t do with everybody else?!” Then we figured it out. We used her a lot! It didn’t take too long to get Keiya since my SO always picks him or Al, since I always pick him... But it took forever to get Midori, since nobody ever used her because... Well... She’s ugly and her attacks suck. (^_^¿) Heheheh.
Oh, did I mention I searched for Midori on Google’s image search? The weirdest stuff came up. Try it.
January 2nd: We finally finished Evil Zone. Congratulations mode was... Frightening. It’s like a big scary party of untrained voice actors. (o_0) I also studied... ::Yawns::
January 4th: I went to the doctor’s today because I’ve had this incessant ear popping... It’s so annoying! He told me it was some eustation tube difficulty, and that it would go away. (>_<) Yea, well, it’s a gosh-darned pain in the ass while it’s here! ::Fumes:: After the appointment I went to dinner with my parents, which was fine, then my SO and I played Nintendo until we watched “Glass House”, I think it was called. Tense movie.
January 5th: I spent the day with my SO after studying. We had to take down the decorations at my house. Uh... Not much to tell. (^_^) One day until school starts again, though... ::Mopes::
January 6th: I got a new rat today! He is so cute. He’s only 21 days old. I named him Pettigrew- yea, after the Harry Potter character. Why? Not because Peter is my favorite- but because my rat has a missing foot! (^_^) He’s deformed- don’t scoff- I’ve been waiting so long to get a deformed rat. He also has no tail. Seems fine otherwise. Not too active. I think he may be a bit mentally disturbed.
January 7th: Back to school. ::Yawns:: Didn’t do too much other than history homework and playing Evil Zone with my SO. Pettigrew is still fine, a little more active now that he’s settled. Still looks dim.
January 8th: Second day of school, of course, nothing eventful has happened. This morning somebody pulled the fire drill at the school. We had to stand out in the freezing cold for nearly a quarter of an hour. If I ever find out who did it, I’m going to break their arm. So they don’t pull the drill again. To top it off the history test is tomorrow. And I have to study tonight. I also found out I actually do have an art exam. Goodie. ::Unenthusiastic:: At least it’ll be about Tezuka... And then just a critique. Shouldn’t be too bad. Unfortunately I’m the only one enrolled in the final art level... So I’ll be the one person in the exam row. Goodie. That just shouts;
WINNER!
Please, lord. Let me be in a row with other people. Not that other people make it better it’s just... Not so... Urgh. Never mind.
January 9th: I took the test! My hand is paralyzed from writing so much and I ran out of time near the end so the penmanship was terrible and the very last paragraph was very piece-meal-like. I’m just glad it’s out of the way! Few! (-_-¿) Well, I didn’t go to school in the morning because I wanted to rest. Didn’t miss much, as far as I can tell.
After school my SO and I went to spend the gift certificates they got for Christmas at Blockbuster. We rented Battle Arena Toshinden and Lord of the Rings- The Animated Clamshell. I’m serious, it was called that... My question is- WHY? Oh well, on to what I thought... It was HILARIOUS! Of course, it was a re-release of a really old LotR animation... and the prologue was all acted out by silhouetted real-life actors on this bright red background... Seen through a burlap sack mesh effect. (o_0) It was really stupid- all these black figures wandering around with narration, attempting to act out what the narrator was saying. Anyway, then- finally- the animation started. A lot of it was really similar to the new movie, but there were also changes. Like in the woods, when Arwen saves Frodo in the new movie, Legolas joins them in the animated one. Both my SO and I had a shock. We were like “Is that Arwen? ... She looks weird.” (The characters yell out “Legolas! Hey!”) And my SO and I commence to gape in shock. ::Laughing:: (^_^) The animation steadily declined through the movie, and it only covered the first two books. It suddenly ended off after Gandalf beats the Orch army...
They obviously ran out of budget after that point, because the latter part of the movie was almost completely done by real life actors. Let me explain, whenever there was a big group scene that involved mostly men, dwarfs (who were the same size as everybody else, incidentally), and elves, they were acted by real people that were overexposed to look like animation. Any distinguishing characteristics of the characters were painted on with actual animation. It was a really scary effect. Seriously. Anyway, by the end of the movie, the whole Orch-Man battles were completely done by actors. The only animation was hair, some faces (like Gandalf, who had to look a certain way) and the teeth of the Orchs. Did I mention a lot of them were men in monkey masks? MONKEY masks. Um... Do the words “PIG LIKE” mean anything to them? Not to be über nerd, here, but really. Details make the difference when you’ve half-assed over 50% of the movie you’re attempting to make.
Right, on to the characters. Frodo was good. Not as heroic as they made him out to be in the new movie, but tolerable. His voice was eerily the same as the new kid who plays him in the recent live-action release. Sam... ::Shakes head:: Sam was terrible! They butchered him! He’s hugely fat, his teeth are inches apart, and... Urgh! All the hobbits have feet bigger than their heads! It’s scary! I’ll stop ranting about Sam... Legolas was okay, except for the fact that he, for one, looked like he had down syndrome and a huge nose, and secondly, everybody else was shades of brown and he was all white... So he kind of... Glowed. I know he’s supposed to glow to some extent, but really. It was... Bad. Aragorn was... Ugly. And Boromir- he looked like some Viking. He had that horned-hat thing going on. (o_0) Oh- But there WAS a good character point- Merry and Pippin. They were far less fruity than in the live-action release. (^_^) Not much else to say...
January 10th: Nearly done my art, and history is going at a hugely fast pace to attempt finishing the text before the exam. ::Insane look:: Not to mention I have to refill this college form and send in gesture drawings... Then fill out all these essays and summaries of my extra-curriculars for scholarships. ::Stress stress:: So much work... So little time... One art project left. (>_<) AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! ::Breaths:: Anyway, after applying to the colleges and messing about in guidance, I went home and watched Battle Arena Toshinden with my SO. It was... worse... than I remembered. But one character looked like Sephiroth, so I forgive. (^_^) Not much else to tell. Did a lot of homework for history and applications.
January 11th: I finished off my art today. Few. All done. I also started my last project. It’s an elegant looking Sephiroth who’s wrapped in his flowing material. (^_^) I’m doing it in colored chalk. Let’s see, my SO helped me transfer my last piece. Aren’t they sweet? Yes. (^_~) I’m done applying to Vancouver Film School. I have Ryerson scholarships left to do. Shouldn’t be too bad since one asks for a piece of my work that I’ve written, so I don’t really have to write anything new. Dinner with my parents was okay, I had this really gross Caesar salad, though. It was very... garlic laden. (x_x)
January 12th: Well, I finished my art and have started on my last piece today! Woo! Later I saw Mysts of Avalon with my SO. That was the creepiest movie ever. It was Arthurian legend told from the perspective of the women. It was freaky because there was this strong religious undertone that encouraged worship of Mary. (o_0) All the way through. Other than that it was pretty much some fancy witch stuff and Arthurian threesomes with Gwen, Lancelot and Arthur. Woo baby. Also some Morgain/Arthur smut. (^_~) By the end everything explodes... And I mean everything. We have Merlin, who’s wise and consoles everybody... And he dies. Then the Lady of the Lake, who controls people’s destiny by using her social status to manipulate them; she gets stabbed by Morgain’s aunt... Who’s an evil witch and makes Gwen barren. Did I mention the evil aunt dies? Yea. She dies too. Then there’s Morgain’s bastard son with Arthur. He makes Camelot fall, kills Arthur and his army, kills the Knights of the Round Table, and Lancelot. Then Arthur kills him. Mordrid, I think his name was... Let’s see. Did I leave out any deaths? ::Taps chin:: Hmmm. Oh yes, Morgain’s dad is set up by the Lady of the Lake and is killed by this General, who later dies in another battle. Few. Messy stuff. No wonder the movie was three gosh-darned hours long!!!
January 13th: Went shopping with my SO today. They got a big chunk of meat and I got bath powder. (o_0) Saw Becky at Plaza 69 and chatted with her for a while. She seemed bored and customerless. We got back to my SO’s house. Their sibling is staying for a month, which is pretty cool. Not much else happened. ::Yawns::
January 14th: HOLY FUCK! My host billed me 600$ for excess bandwidth! My mom is practically biting my arm off about this. God damnit. I thought I deleted the stuff that was getting huge amounts of accesses because it was linked by other sites. I guess I have to get rid of my personal pictures and signature files on the message board. They’re gobbling bandwidth like I gobble ecstasy. Hahahahah! Just kidding. ::Stress stress:: Oh my god 600$ is so much fucking money. (>_<) What am I going to do? I mailed them asking if I could cap the number of guests so that once my bandwidth was used, it would just display a page asking excess guests to return later. That would be super. I hope they can do it, otherwise I have to constantly consult my archives of visitors to make sure one file isn’t getting tons of hits for no reason.
::Sigh:: To make it worse, it is now officially freezing here with snow to top it off. (.-_-.) I also had to read about women’s rights in history. Not that I’m not “all for” it but, really. I think they got carried away. A guy can’t even shout a few come on lines without getting his ass slapped in jail. That’s just fucked up. I’d be willing to sacrifice having to serve in the army (woo hoo. I’m a person, therefore, I can legitimately get myself killed fighting for the country), to have guys actually able to talk to me without killing themselves trying to be politically correct. Urgh. But I’ll stop ranting about that because down that path lies madness, seeing as I’m not really against or for the whole issue. Kind of neutral. Yea, the silent masses strike again.
Oh, and lastly, bye bye to Cherie, who’s leaving the message board and chats from today onward. Have as much fun with school as possible! (^_^) And good luck, good grades to you!
January 16th: I finished my last art project today. Few. Spent most of my time chasing around the principal and secretaries trying to get a transcript and my recommendation. I’m getting the transcript tomorrow, but I still have to find the principal, I’m going to try and have him vouch as my non-academic recommendation. ::Thinks:: Not much else happened. Saw my SO, who was kind enough to drive me back to school, only to find out none of my stuff was ready. That’s okay, though. Tomorrow is the open house, so it’s not like there’s any rush, and people are probably already really busy with everything. Hm, just did history when I got back. Not much to tell. ::Yawns::
January 17th: Since today was a short day, I decided not to go to school. The secretaries probably wouldn’t have time for me anyway. (¬_¬) Speaking of people with no time for me, got the parental unit “don’t be rude on the ‘phone” speech again. Ugh. You know what, if they didn’t care, I would take all the ‘phones out of my house. Yea, a lot of the calls are for me, but the only person who actually does call is my SO, so no big deal there. They can always talk to me on-line and make plans there. Not to mention my mom doesn’t bother to answer the phone at all, she just lets it rings like she can’t hear it (hey, maybe she actually can’t, she is like 40 years old) so it’s always me having to get up from what I’m doing, no matter how aching or sick I am and take calls that are constantly for my dad, and constantly people I don’t like and talk for hours and hours at the top of their lungs about stuff I don’t give a rat’s ass about. No wonder I have ear problems. (>_<) If I didn’t care enough about what his reputation meant, I would tell all these psychic freaks and journalists to piss the fuck off. But I’m polite and take messages and say please and all that fucking bullshit. (9_9) Obviously none of that gets through. What the fuck is the point of preserving somebody’s reputation if ONE little slip up can ruin it all, huh? Yea. There IS no point. Whatever. Anyway, hopefully the rest of the day will be fine. And the next time that fucking ‘phone rings, it better be my SO to make me feel better. Oh yea, my horoscope said I’d get a job.
January 18th: Well, I finally got everything set up. I have my art notes back to start studying, I’ve got the principal to be my reference and I got both my transcripts. (^_^) Yay!! After all that I went shopping with my SO. We went out to eat, which was delicious. After that we went back to their house and played a couple rounds of Evil Zone. Later we got together again for a bit more before we decided it was late and time for bed. (-_-)Zzz.
January 19th: I started fixing up my notes for review. I highlighted history and sorted what I had to study. Not a whole lot, but still a good amount of material to cover. ::Coughs:: I woke up sick today. (>_<) Urgh. ::Holds head:: I hope I have enough energy to study properly. Later I got together with my SO and we played some Soul Blade. It was so weird playing that after so much Evil Zone. They kept pressing the wrong button for block and I kept trying to do jumping attacks the wrong way around. (o_0`) There were also a huge amount of perfects for both of us, which was weird.
January 20th: Only nine days left to study and I’m really sick. ::Sneezes twice:: I saw my SO, which made me feel a little better. ::Stretches:: But now I’m all tired out. At least I had the energy to review my art notes once. Tomorrow at school I’ll talk to the teacher about when I’m going to present my seminar and when my exam is (I don’t really know my course code since I’m the only person in there ^_^¿). ::Sighs:: Today’s kind of a sad day. I have the feeling the board is going downhill, plus Cherie is shutting down her journal until she decides to come back. Well, once again, good luck. I really hope you get everything sorted out, girl. (^_^/)
January 26th: Well, I haven’t written due to three things; exams, studying for them, and the fact that because of the whole bandwidth issue, I had to switch server platforms to NT and my page was in limbo for quite some time. Now it’s kind of back, but it seems that it goes off-line quite a bit. My counter won’t work and I can’t receive e-mail, upload or manage my addresses. Wow. It’s like the world is trying to prove to me nothing is 100%... Because something else happened today: I checked this e-mail I don’t usually use regularly and found I’ve been accepted to Vancouver Film School... Sort of. Not only was it a completely informal acceptation (I kind of imagined a letter... Through the real mail... The snail mail), but it was on the condition that I take a life drawing course first. ::Cries:: What? What was that? I am “sort of” accepted to college. Great. Bring out the fucking noise makers because I’m sort of going on with my quasi-life. ::Dryly:: Woo fucking hoo. (¬_¬)
Anyway, yesterday I wrote my art exam. I got there, and my art teacher wasn’t around to give me an admittance slip... (o_0) So I talked to the principal, vice principal and a teacher before finally finding her, getting the admit slip and sitting down to write the exam. My paper ended up being 25 pages long; I had to talk about Japanese art history and its relation to modern anime, critique a very odd abstract piece, and critique my own work. My hand was nearly completely paralyzed when I got out of the examination hall. (>_<) Few. I’m not so glad it’s over, though. I’m going to miss art, but my teacher told me to visit (^_^). On Tuesday I have my history exam, which I still have to study for over the weekend and on Monday.
This morning, I was woken up at nine AM by my shithead neighbors again. What the hell is wrong with them, revving an ATV at 9AM for an hour!? Jesus Christ on a Cross! They did it again around 1:00PM, which is forgivable... But still inconsiderate.
Oh yes, in other news... found some ether in the medicine cabinet. Subtly worried for own life.
January 28th: Have you ever felt way too young for something you’re about to do? ... Wait, it sounds like I’m talking about sex or something. I mean *moving away*. Living on your own. I don’t really think I’m ready. ::Sounding extremely lame and like some sort of teenage advisory program:: Of course I’m going to do it- I wouldn’t turn it down for the world -but I’ve never felt more like a stupid immature kid than I do today... Now that it’s finalized that I’m moving to Vancouver. My mom has practically arranged the whole thing for me... Obviously I wrote all the essays and did all *that* kind of work, but otherwise... ::Sighs:: Yea, I still watch cartoons and read comics. I live at home and whine all the time. I don’t know anything about money, taxes, owning a home, setting up my own schooling, taking courses by myself, or even how to dial long distance. I have to press 1 first. Oh. Now I get it. I wonder if somebody who’s as inept as me can succeed.
Maybe it’d do me some good if I got horribly murdered in an alley the first week I live in Vancouver. It would probably save a lot of people the time of taking care of me. I thought I was fairly independent because of all the work I do without any assistance at all, and that I don’t really like other people horning in on my business... But so much stuff I just don’t have a clue how to do it... and I have to learn within a very stringent period of time. Let’s see; how to run my life, deal with money, pay for my house, submit taxes, drive a car, use the ‘phone (hah ha. Seriously, that’s sad but true)...
I just thought of something. This is me “moving away”. Doesn’t that sound like something that happens during childhood? I mean, everybody has moved at some point. Except me. Did I mention I’ve lived in this house my whole life and never really been anywhere else for a prolonged period of time. Wow, I am so sheltered. I’m a pornographic manga artist that’s sheltered. Isn’t that some sort of contradiction in itself? Yes. I think it is. Anyway... I’ve watched a lot of people move away, and they all seemed to survive. Wait. I only kept in contact with one of them... I guess one of out ::counts on fingers:: eight... isn’t so bad. 12% chance I won’t die horribly. Uh... Yea. My courses start on July29th. That means I’ll be leaving sometime before that. That’s close. Really close. Um... yea. Living alone will be...Fun. Oh, did I mention that VFS doesn’t have dorms? Yea. I have an apartment, and I’ll have to somehow get to the school.
::Prays::
God, I know I don’t believe in you, and only ask for stuff when my ass is trouble... But if you could insure me an apartment right close to the school, within walking distance of me not getting killed on the way there, that would be super. I’ll do something nice for your birthday... When is that? Around Christmas... Yea. I’ll buy you a new hat, God, and then we’ll be even.
Hat for my life. Hat for my life.
Urgh.
All my friends who are in post-secondary still live at home, and the two that don’t have dorms. Cozy dorms with other people that they know and care about and are quite sure won’t poison their food or shoot them in the back or murder them in their sleep or eat all their food or take their stuff or spend their money or- am I being crazy? Yes.
I am no longer subtly worried for life.
But I’m worried about my SO and what they’ll do without me... I don’t mind if they move on, that would be great, but I do mind if they’re sad and depressed once I’ve left. I want them to be happy. Really really happy and rich and possibly famous. That would make me happy, even though I’m not a philanthropist, I still think the best gift in the world is seeing somebody you care about succeed. Isn’t it? I think it is, because I don’t care about so many people, and those few that I do, well it’s a personal thing to me how they’re feeling, and how they react to what I do. I feel responsible if my actions cause them to be sad or uncomfortable, even if sometimes I can’t help it... Like now. ::Sighs:: I have absolutely no plan of how to do this whole “moving away from everybody” thing in a way that will go smoothly and is least damaging. Knowing me there will be several destroyed cities in my wake. I’m not subtle, I’m not tactful, I have very few interpersonal skills when it comes to something I ardently want to do... And right now, I have the horrible vision that I’ll handle this whole thing in the worst possible way.
Damn.
January 29th: Well, I got my history exam out of the way. Few! I have so much free time now that I don’t have to study for that. I had to get up at 7AM to go to the exam, and now I’m dead tired. ::Yawns:: Luckily I got a ride there because it was absolutely freezing outside (>_<)!! Good news, though. Pat is getting me the Escaflowne movie and A is getting me the first season of Sailor Moon and Starlights! Yay! ::Does the amazing happy dance:: (^_^) Today was my mom’s birthday. I cooked her dinner; we had Caesar salad and pasta. I’m glad my site is all sorted out and so is my e-mail. Few! I was scared for a bit there. My counter should be working again sometime soon. I’m planning on scanning some more dojin now that I have all this free time. (^_~)
January 30th: I met up with a friend at the mall today, it was a lot of fun, except for having to walk all the way back home in the absolutely freezing cold. (>_<) Brr! Anyway, next semester I have only two classes (and one distance ed.) as well, but the order is switched! Last semester it was on a day one, I had all my classes second (Second in the morning, and second after lunch), and on a day two they were first. Now it’s the other way around. (o_@) I have writer’s craft and fifth year programming. (^_^) Um... Yay. I also ended up cleaning my study today, organizing stuff. I went through all my old drawings, and took a trip down memory lane. It was so funny-some of them are hilarious- ::sighs::. Other than that, nothing too eventful. My SO has been really busy lately with courses, poor lil’ thing. ::Pet pet:: (`^_^´) It’ll get better soon!
February 4th: Well, today was the first day of the new semester. Yesterday I finished my painting, so that’s all taken care of. I was all ready to go back to school, when I found out it was a day two, meaning I had all my courses second. I didn’t know if the spare sign-in sheet was working, so at 7AM, I called the school. A janitor answered, saying the sheet should be up and working. So I went back to bed and finally arrived at school, after walking in the blistering cold, at 10PM. Of course, the sheet wasn’t ready. I don’t see what’s so hard about making a list of names... But anyway, they let it pass this time, but I have to go to homeroom until they actually do get everything in order. Good lord.
I went to my first class, writer’s craft, after meeting up with Scottie in the hall. He had English in the room right next to mine. I tried to convince him to join us in writer’s craft, but he declined (^_^;;). The writer’s craft class was so boiling! There’s something wrong with the radiator... It makes a ton of noise. (o_0) Becky looked frightened by it. Anyway, it seems like it’s going to be a fun course. Mrs. Ames is really nice, and explains things very well. After that, I met up with my art teacher and returned some markers. She chatted with me for a while about Vancouver, and was really happy for me (yayyyyy! ^_^). She also told me my final exam was awesome, and I finished the course with a 98! (o.o!) WOW!
After lunch I got a ride back to fifth-year programming. Scary stuff- I’m with all the guys who were in the classes years before. It’s also a new teacher, but she’s really nice and understanding, and for once, the network was set up on the first day. I was surprised, usually the first day is a total disaster. Well, it kind of was for me since I didn’t remember any of my Visual Basic and ended up going home and reading manuals until my SO came over and helped me. Good god, why can’t all programming languages be as easy as HTML? (>_<) ::Sigh:: Anyway, hopefully I’ll get to do the school’s webpage as one of my projects, since I’m doing it already- for free and no credit.
Oh! That reminds me, right before third class, the principal calls me over, and tells me people have been berating the vice principal on the page’s message board. I’m like “our page doesn’t have a message board”. As it turns out, the guy who tried to take the job of building my school’s page from me, bought a .com for the school, and then took off to college, also left an un-moderated message board in his wake. (9_9) That’s exactly the reason I didn’t put a BBS on the page- I don’t have the time to moderate, and nobody I trust would do it either. So anyway, I told the principal and vice p. to contact the server’s company and tell them to take the .com off the ‘net (I don’t even know why it was still up, since they insisted that they weren’t being billed).
Anyway, I have a ton of work to do, mostly novel study. I have to get this done before the semester speeds up any more! (>_<) Eeeeerghhhhhh! Oh! I also got my recommendation.
Feburary 10th: Well, I’ve been thoroughly neglecting this journal (m-_-m)... I’ll recap what happened for the first week of school. Writer’s craft is a lot of work, but it’ll be fun. I already have three of my independent projects done and have chosen my independent study topic (^_^). In computer science I only have one project of the first section left to do. I also agreed to do the webpage for credit and I’m making the sprites for this RPG game a bunch of the guys are making. It looks like it’s going to be cool... Waving the plot, which so far goes as follows “There’s a hero who lives with an old man- that dies. He goes to find the king and has to get an antidote in a cave. He gets it, gives it to the king, but it’s poison and the king dies. Then you have to fight some guards who accuse you of treason. There’s also a princess and a queen. Your team consists of the hero... Who’s an elf. A chick... Who’s an elf, and a Black Mage.” (o_0) I guess that’s what we get for letting Anus write the script. Wait- I should explain. Anus (a.k.a. Scott) was in a group with me and Becky in grade ten. Instead of doing the work, he was like “I love the word Anus. I want my name to be Anus for a day”. And it stuck... Well, between Becky and her friends and I. Hahaha (^0^). Speaking of computers, I ran into Mr. Millard, who said there’s a lawyer that wants a page made for him, so I might take the job. I have to see if I’ll have the time since this semester I’ll also be taking my driver’s ed. courses.
It shouldn’t be too much work, though, since I’m nearly done novel study. Today I took the preliminary exam. All I have left to do is the final and that will be out of the way. I hope I do well (>_<).
Yesterday I backed up all my media and picture files... I put them on LS120s and on CDs... I was only one Super Disk short of completely backing everything up. Grrr... I’ll have to go and buy another one (>_<). I also shellacked my last painting. That’s all done and out of the way ::Few::.
Hmmm.... What else. ::Taps pen on the desk:: ... I’m waiting on so many anime right now! I ordered the entire Earthian series from Comics North and it still hasn’t come in, my friend Adrienne is supposed to be sending me the first season of Sailor Moon subtitled, and I have to stalk Pat to get that Escaflowne movie.
SO: “Where are you going?”
Me: “To stalk...” ::Pause:: “Pat and Adrienne.”
SO: “Grr...”
Me: “Aw, crap.”
Anyway, I got my final recommendation from my art teacher, so that’s all fine and dandy. I have to catch her again sometime to return sheets, though. (^_^) I don’t mind. I hope all my art teachers are as nice as she is -I got really tired of drawing birds and flowers when Mrs. Courtice was the teacher- and as lenient.
Oh yea, I took a couple of those on-line quizzes. Apparently I’m a fire spirit, and my Lord of the Rings Character is... ::Drum roll::
GIMLI!
Ewwwwwwww! What the hell?! ::Laughing so hard::
Me: "Why am I so ugly!?"
Seriously, though; big helmet and chunky braids real turnoff. I wanted to be Frodo!
Me: "Why is everybody always touching me?! Sam!"
Or even better... Lego-man. Wooo!
Me: "Everybody smells funny."
They sure do, Legolas... They sure do.
Feburary 11th: Today was actually really funny. I went to school in the morning and Becky wasn’t in homeroom. I was like “Aw...”, but she showed up for first class -in which we had a spare- and we ended up doing the assignment together. Then her friends trotted over and told us Mr. Pagan wasn’t here, so Becky came to school for absolutely no reason since her other two classes are taught by him. Oh - here’s the funny part - Becky has to go to this “special” homeroom ::Laughing so hard:: for everybody who takes the city bus. (o_0) It’s like segregation of those who can’t get to school on time and are too poor to afford a car. But today she went for no reason since she had no classes, and there was all this confusion with her not being on the list because she was away Friday. Anyway, I ended up staying with her after her friends took off and waited for her ride.
After I got home I watched the Escaflowne episodes (finally got them from Pat), but I couldn’t decompress the movie. I’ve got it to work with Real Player, but it freezes half way through. (>_<) Damnit! I’m going to have to look into this, I really want to see the gosh-darned thing!
After that I went to computer class, where I have to reverse a bunch of my sprites because they were pointing in the wrong direction. Grrrrrrr!! I’m pretty sure there’s a command in VB to flip an image horizontally... But I switched them anyway. (9_9)
On my way home I saw these two weird guys crawling under the trees near my street. One was dressed like a city official and the other was in plainclothes and had a clipboard... They were driving this unmarked truck too... It was so weird and suspicious. (o_0) They kept going into people’s yards... The hell...
Anyway, here’s wishing my SO luck on all the work university has assigned, and also that they’ll make the right decision.
Edit Monday February 11th 8:30PM 2002: I JUST GOT MY ACCEPTANCE the official acceptance to Vancouver film school! It came in an envalope and it had a seal and congradulated me and everything! All my friends except my SO are really happy! I’m Happy! My childhood dream ever since I was three years old is coming true! I’m going to be an animator! I made it! It’s worth it worth moving and all the money and I would have applied a million times if it meant getting in but it only took one try and I’ve made it! I’M SO HAPPY I’m CRYING! ::Laughing so hard::
February 14th: Happy Valentine’s Day to all, and to all a goodnight! Well, seeing as I have morning spares for today and Friday, I got a lot of sleep then went to school. I ordered roses for my SO over the ‘phone, which was a task since we both have very rare and difficult names to spell. But that’s okay, they got to my SO just fine. (^_^) Programming class passed without incident, and last night I got a ton of writing done on my story. Oh yes, I haven’t talked about that... Well, I’ve always meant to write a story about boarding school (Shattered was going to end up that way, but I never managed to get Troy to the school. Argh!). But I must say, Harry Potter has inspired me. Why? Because now children everywhere are all “I wish I could go to boarding school!” No, no you don’t. So I’m going to write this horror/history novel that isn’t really about boarding school but takes place in a real one so the reader can see exactly how it actually was... I’m sure they’re slightly more civil now, but that’s not the point.
Anyway, after programming class, I met up with my friends! It was so unexpected but fun! (^_^) They had celebrated Valentine’s day by eating enough pizza to make themselves sick. Needless to say I didn’t stay long (^_^¿). After that, I got home and watched the Escaflowne movie. It was so cool! Dilly! I got to see him again! Mwe hee heheheh! It took some downloading of codecs, but I finally got to it work. Phew!
My SO dropped by half way through to deliver my Valentine’s chocolates and favorite ice-cream (which is actually special because it’s French Crisp; expensive and difficult to get). They watched the rest of the Escaflowne Movie with me (oh yes, great music in that picture too!), then we talked a bit and they left to go study. Good luck on your calculus test SilverFish! (^_^/) Go go go! - Midori
OH! I forgot to mention something truly dim my school is doing... Anybody with an account on the network must remove all “inappropriate” material (MP3s, EXEs, pictures) in two days or their accounts will be deleted, they’ll be banned from the lab and get ZERO in the course... ::Pause:: WHAT THE HELL? Okay, I know I’ve said this before, but I’m the image producer for an RPG game from my fifth year independent study in programming... meaning I have to have ACDsee to view the images (plus all the EXEs of my programs, which everybody has... So I don’t know what they’ll do about that o_0) and I have a ton of images. So I wrote a note explaining this. Hopefully I won’t get kicked out of the course for doing more work than the rest of the class does... I mean, I have all but one of the pre-assigned programs done, and I’m almost finished my part of the independent study project. I’m about ready to start coding for the webpage... Come on! My school seems to always chase after the wrong people... Like just the other day, I was nearly marked truant because of a slight sign-in mix-up... What?! I’m probably one of the hardest working people in the school -my overall average is 94%- who cares if I miss a day?! It’s not like I’m slacking off when I’m not at school... I’m actually working, unlike the people who constantly skip and get away with it. I was told this whole hullabaloo was because the school is paid by the amount attending homeroom, so if I sign in halfway through the day, they don’t get paid, and that upsets them. Harumph! I’ll pay them the dollar (or whatever) they get for me if it means no hassle with coming to class when I am prepared. Sometimes I feel like there’s no point to doing extra work or putting a lot of effort into something because people either don’t notice or don’t care... Okay, enough ranting about how I’m getting totally gypped.
I filled out the insurance forms for VFS today as well. I hope everything gets there by Monday, when it’s due. ::Panic:: (>_<)!!
February 20th: Today has to have been the worst day of my life. I woke up at 8:45AM to find out that the furnace had quit working and the house temperature was stuck at 14°C. Freezing. I was barely able to dress myself, it actually seemed warmer outside than inside. But that’s not the worst, it was also snowing; huge puffy wet flakes. EVERYTHING is bogged down with snow, the trees look like they’re going to snap. Anyway, I got to school, and took a writer’s craft test. I’m fairly sure I got the definition for idiom backward, and there was up to one mark per question taken for spelling mistakes, so I probably lost a lot on that since I’m really eloquent and use higher language level words, but my spelling still rots. ::Sigh:: (-_-) I hope I did well.
Anyway, I came back for lunch, and got distracted so I was nearly late for programming. At least it wasn’t as bad as yesterday, where I fell asleep during lunch and was late for programming. Programming went fairly well. Bailey was missing, seeing as he lives out in the boonies and probably couldn’t get to school due to the snow. Christian was there, and he always makes me laugh so hard. He’s really insane; reminds me oddly of Tom Green. I see him having a show like that... Hee hee. (^_^) I’m done the sprites for the RPG project, so I started on the school’s page. It’s going to be great when I’m finished, very snazzy and remodeled. ::Sighs again:: I got home from school, bought two buttertarts to which I am now addicted, but they were the last in the box, so I’m assuming I’ll have to get over my addiction right quick... So I walked home and then worked on my independent study project: the WW2 Gothic/History novel. I also have to research both the Gothic and History genres, explaining how they relate to my novel and how they can be combined... I got fairly far. I still have to do a lot of WW2 research, though. Shortly after that, my SO called and asked if I wanted to have dinner. I was so-so, then agreed. Then they told me that Krista would be joining us. I’m like “Uh, you didn’t say that before... I’ll get back to you.” So I thought about it, and eventually went. It was... Well... Awkward. She’s nice, he’s nice, and I’m a nice third wheel. I mean, she’s nerdy like him and knows all about D&D and Magic and all those weird things. They say stuff at the same time, but I’m not spiting. They would be cute together, but it’s weird. I felt so... Hm... Not jealous at all... I felt... PREPPY! Ahhhhhhhhhhh! I don’t know why! I usually feel Gothy... Nerdy... Or... Normal. Never before preppy. ::Sigh:: (o_0) Is that a bad thing? I was like “the artsy one”. Oh well, that whole thing is so confusing, I’m just going to leave it alone.
The roads were really bad going there, picking up Krista, and coming back. My SO and I got stuck twice. Once a very helpful man gave us a hand and the other time we just kind of slid until we reached traction on the cleared street. (>_<) It didn’t even look slippery! Geez, and I have to start driving school fairly soon. Doesn’t exactly encourage me to want to drive... Then again, seeing how slow the bus was going doesn’t encourage me to use public transportation.
Yea. Anyway, after the awkward dinner, I asked to be driven home. Krista got a ride, and when I was dropped off she moved to the front seat. (¬_¬`) Overall, she seems like the type of girl I would be friends with if she went to my school or lived near me, so that’s cool. She also knew a disturbing amount of the same friends my SO and I knew- some of which only I was aquatinted with. She reminded me of a more earthy version of myself.
Right, now I’m home. That’s the end. Oh, and a shout-out to Cherie, who I’ll draw any more pictures for if she wants. (^_^)
February 21st: Slept in this morning, thought I wouldn’t go to class. Finally I got up, called the school, and they told me courses were not canceled. So I went. Do you know how many other people showed up for programming? One. There were only four out of the twenty-or-so people in my English class, hardly anybody was in the building, and half the lights had been turned off as if it were closing time. (9_9) WHY did they tell me school was running as usual?! Oh well... After that I got home, and after eating got together with my SO to play really old Game Boy games. There were hilarious, especially this one Mario I had never played (I thought I had finished them all). It was odd and non-standard... With hearts instead of one-up mushrooms and rabbit ears to fly instead of tails. (o_0) Oh yea, I had a bank appointment to get myself a Student Visa, but that had to be canceled so we could meet the furnace guy (we finally got it fixed). I spent the rest of the time playing with heromachine.com.
February 22nd: Well, today was fairly uneventful. I got up at 8:45AM, got dressed, and heard this revving noise. When I got out the door, there was a guy with a truck stuck in our ditch, and our retaining wall was broken. I laughed so hard at him... And didn’t offer to let him use our ‘phone. Good on me. He deserved it for running over our property... Anyway, after that, I got to school, signed in and went to English. We’ve started a journalism unit, which is my least favorite part of Writer’s Craft. I’m not too fond of journalism, and we have to do four out of five types. I think I’ll do Soft News story, Obituary, Editorial, and Review of a Foreign film. Speaking of foreign, after English I went down to the library to get the WWII books for my project. While I was looking through the card catalogue, this group of loser first-years came up and said “We own this library. We make sure you don’t steal anything.” I scared them off and had the rest of the time to get my books in peace.
I went home for lunch, ate some left over taco stuffs, and then laid in the sun before getting a ride back to programming. I spent that class attempting to not be dragged down to the hockey game. Apparently they were showing Canada vs. whoever in the gym, and all classes were invited to go. Of course, being a programming class full of nerds who don’t like sports, we all overthrew our teacher, who actually wanted to go. Oh well. Now I’ve got last year’s yearbook and I have to scan pictures from it and type stuff up about the teachers for our webpage. At least it’s just HTML programming I have to do.
February 25th: Well, today started off with our school playing “We Are the Champions” and “We Will Rock You” over the PA, celebrating Canada’s victories at the Olympics. This was followed by a heart-felt speech by the principal. This was funny because for the past three days I’ve been researching Nazi Germany and propaganda for a project I’m doing (¬_¬`). Funny I made the connection so quickly. Anyway, Writer’s Craft taught us how to do an interview, so I’ll do that tonight. I’m allowed to combine my independent study interview and interview assignment for Unit One, so that’s good.
After class I went to the bank with my mom the secure a credit card and a customer card so I can get money easily once I’m in Vancouver. After that we went home, and my mom told me to find a bus schedule for the city on-line. I need to know where the buses are to catch one for my driving lessons that are starting soon. So I looked. Our city has three .COMs, but none of them had information, let alone bus schedules. They were all lists of affiliates without any actual content (>_<). Lame!!! So then I look up the bus station in the ‘phone book, only to spend fifteen minutes looking before finding anything. I finally find the number, call it, and am told that there are two places to get a schedule: From a bus driver, and from the station. We opted for the station, so my mom drove me down. We turned into the station itself, since there was literally no other place to park, only to be confronted by this weenerly little security guard who’s like “You can’t park there... Meeeehh!” (9_9) Oh my god! So my mom drops me off, and I go inside to get a schedule. No problem there, but then my mom had been forced by the weenerly guard to drive away. I’m like “Well, I can always take the BUS home. Hahaha. Retarded.” But we eventually met up again and went home.
Speaking of Vancouver, my parents have been weirding me out about it. (o_0) There’s this awkwardness about everything we do now. Hrrrrrm.
My novel is going well. Research on WW2 is nearly complete and I know everything I need to about Catholic boarding school.
One more project left for the journalism unit. It’s a foreign film critique, so I have to wait until Thursday and Friday, where we’re watching a foreign feature in class.
February 26th: Very assish weather today, wind driven snow. Urgh. (>_<) And apparently (I wasn’t there for homeroom) they played the “We Are the Champions” again over the PA in homeroom. (o_0) It was for the championship of the midget boy’s basketball team or something. And yet another heartfelt speech by the principal. The hell??? Becky and I were joking in Writer’s Craft, that they’ll be using any excuse to play that song. “The Janitor cleaned nine cafeteria tables today- o/` WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS o/`”.
Anyway, tomorrow there’s a pep rally. I think I’ll stay home for the afternoon so I can actually get some work done. I know it’s school spirit and all, but I figure my spirit is getting my work done, not screaming and cheering like a bloody dumbshit. (9_9)
After being harassed in programming (grr), I met up with Kyle, Pat and Scottie. Poor Kyle was sick with the flu, so I waited for his ride with him (in the lightening, and in the rain). (^_^;). Not much else to say. Snowed in today. Blehrgh.
March 2nd: Jeez, I keep forgetting to write in this thing... So a little recap. I didn’t go to school on Wednesday because of a pep rally. On Thursday and Friday in English, we watched The Cup, which is a movie about Buddhist monks who become obsessed with soccer. I’m pretty sure Becky nearly died of boredom, I just found it really funny; except the end, it was pretty good. Other than that, I’ve now finished Unit 1 work on Journalism (weeee!). On the 19th we’re taking a class trip to the Library (yay -_-) so I can do my genre independent study research then- oh, speaking of independent- My Novel Study exam is next Tuesday! The fifth! Oooo, I’m a little nervous, but not too much. I think I did well on the pre-test (even though they didn’t give any exacting pointers when I got Unit 4 back o_0) and I do have two tries to pass the exam.
This Monday I start driving school. For the first class I’m getting a ride there from my mum in case we have to pay up front. After that I have to take the bus. Bugger. (-_-) Luckily I get a ride home every time. It’s for four weeks, so I have to go twice (Wednesday and Monday) during my March break as well. Doesn’t matter, though, since the courses are fairly late in the day, so it’s not like I have to get up pointlessly early. I still think they should bump all schooling back to around 12:00PM for start times. I would learn so much more if I wasn’t sleeping through class.
In other good news, I got my credit card in the mail. Bad news is, I forget the password for it, so I have to waltz back to the bank and ask. (^_^¿) Eh heh heh.
Now for my I-do-more-work-in-computers-than-anybody-else rant. Okay, like I already wrote, I’m working on both the RPG group project and the school’s webpage for my independent fifth-year work, right? Okay. That’s great. There are also Visual Basic projects assigned to those who either couldn’t find a group to work with or just don’t know what they would like to do. Of course, the point of fifth-year is to pick your best programming language and do a semester-long project in it. The problem with this is, the teacher seems to think it’s quite keen to make me do way more work than everybody else. I mean; what the hell? She wants me to do the webpage, but won’t give me full marks for the RPG work I did because it won’t count toward programming. Wow. She could have told me that before I spent nearly two weeks straight designing graphics. That would have made me a lot less bitter (>_<). So I’m like “Okay, so the RPG program can count toward the group work, and the HTML of the page can be my programming, how’s that?” She agrees. Then she assigns a bunch more VB projects to those who don’t have anything else to do. I ask if they count as part of everybody’s mark, and she says “yes”. I’m like, well “Do I have to do them, because I’ve already done the first set of VB program, taken on an extra project, and I’m doing the group work.” Her answer? Yes, yes I do. Is anybody seeing a flaw in the logic, here? The people who just do the VB projects, no group work, can get a better mark than me by doing less work.
Uh huh. I told her that too, and she says “Well, there’s no rush. You have plenty of time to get everything done.”
There’s only one reaction I have to that. Ha. Ha. Ha. (¬_¬)
March 4th: Time to rant about driving school.
Okay, let’s start out by saying I’ve never felt so high-class, intelligent or out of place. I walk in to this house that’s been converted to a really messy office- The first giveaway that this was not a formal in-regimented-class lecture was the “honor” system where you could pay for snacks by dropping coins in a box away from everything else. Hm. The other examples were the fact he had fishing lures taped to a filing cabinet and an unopened bottle of Classic Coke. Not to mention the whole place was a dump, but they were “renovating” so I won’t mention that I was actually disgusted to sit in their chair.
So anyway, it was my first day, but apparently the other five people in that tiny disgusting room had been there before and were just finishing up their courses. Our instructor was named Maurice, and he had some very irritating characteristics. He thought he knew everything. His personal goal was to teach mentally deficient people to drive (I’ll rant more about that later). He was a chauvinist who cracked jokes about “women drivers” (Now we all know I’m at the opposite end of the spectrum from feminism, and usually anti-female things don’t bother me. Now you see how bad this guy was! It was mad), and he hated anybody who made it out that they knew more than they did... ::cough:: hypocrite ::cough::. Anyway, so we start out with the cheesiest video I’ve ever seen. Let’s just say it was that over-wrought acting from the 70’s about a kid who gets low grades fantasizing about his dad loving him (not like that ^_~) and getting him a Ferrari. Ohhhhh-kay. Plus there was “token black man” who rapped about the importance of safety. I hate it when they do that to minorities, it’s just so annoying. WHY did they feel the need to put in token black man, exactly? Everybody else in the video was white. o_0` Anyway.
After that little gem, we were treated to three hours of Maurice’s anecdotes about his family and past students, interspersed with bits of actual relevant information that forced me to try and stay awake. I also had to exert a conscious and very DIFFICULT effort to NOT correct this man. Let me talk about the mentally retarded people he teaches. Now, Maurice’s personal goal is to put mentally retarded people on the road. ... He actually spent a good half hour emphasizing to us that if we had “any friends that were mentally challenged, illiterate, or anything else, send them to this driving school because we can teach anybody to drive” (He also spent a lot of time slandering other schools and making fun of the “women” who ran them). Then he shows us this video (that he made himself. He carries around a handycam and films his students and traffic accidents. Weird-o) about a mentally deficient boy named Tom, who couldn’t perform a right-hand turn. So Maurice, in the video, buys a pack of Smarties and each time the kid makes a decent right-turn, he would get a “nice pink one. Now don’t look at the ditch, no, you’re going too close to it!” -Maurice.
Anyway, then Maurice commences in telling us that there’s a huge difference between being “Smart” and being “Intelligent”. It took ALL the strength I had to not kill him right there. But it gets worse. He starts to use computer examples. Here’s what he says:
Maurice: “You see, I would rather be smart than intelligent; because Tom is real smart. He’s like a computer. If you’re a 496, you’ve only got a bit going on in your mind.”
Me: ::In thought:: What the hell is he talking about? And he says he hates people who act like they know what they’re saying.
Maurice: “Of course, if you have a Pentium 6, then you’re wayyyyyyyy too distracted to drive! Tom can drive. He’s an ace, he’s my boy. ::Tear in his eye::
Me: ::Vomits::
Maurice: “Have you guys ever heard of The Screamer?”
Me: ::Thinking:: The homeless man on Elm??
Maurice: “He lectures at the university. He has an IQ off the charts!”
Me: ::Mentally; Don’t kill him, don’t kill him. He doesn’t know there’s no such thing as an ‘IQ off the charts’::
Maurice: “So he can’t drive. He’s too distracted! He’s got a Ph.D. in Physics... Any of those honor students in averages of 90%, they can’t drive at all. They’re intelligent, not smart. They’re too distracted. So don’t look down on anybody; because mentally challenged people can drive too.”
Me: ::Thinking; Didn’t he just look down on me because I’m an honors student???::
Now, I’m also going to mention that the guy, The Screamer, who he was talking about, was not the homeless person I thought. He’s a man who actually taught a few lectures at the university. He’s strange, a little disturbed, and definitely NOT a PH.D. He’s a poet, and an English major. He does not have an IQ off the scale; even if that did exist. Anyway, he also told us about an illiterate Cree Indian who had been taking the test since he was 16, and just putting random letters and failing. One day with Maurice and the man, apparently, passed. Great.
On to more personal anecdotes. He’s from some sort of quaint backwater town that apparently has no rocks at all, and finding a gravel pit is like striking gold. When he and his daughters moved here, they washed rocks and tried to sell them at the side of the road. Apparently this was supposed to be funny, because he laughed and laughed. I was silently thinking “Well, tell me where it is. I’ll bring them some rocks and sell them, buy myself a Cheeseburger.”
That was the problem, though. Whenever he laughed, I thought it was boring, but when he told a story and was dead serious, I couldn’t help but splutter. It was very hard to contain myself. Oh my goodness. He started to ask me why I was smiling, so I told him “Oh, I’m from the city.” And he accepted this. WHY did he accept it, and WHY did I say it in the first place? This is why. Maurice kept saying “Anything can happen in the city!” It was so... so... small-townish of him. It freaked me out so much. He had his handy-cam in Toronto, and he was filming these street cars that weren’t pulling over for a fire truck. Not only was he shouting and swearing at them in the video, he was shouting in real life... I mean, DUDE, haven’t you seen this video a million times? The course is held almost every night- WHAT is new for you to scream at?! I would have much rather had a straight-forward boring course than this idiot “teaching” with personal anecdotes, many of which had nothing to do with driving and either slandered other people, proved he was a moron by illustrating he didn’t know what he was talking about, or praising his friends and telling how they got “gypped by the system”. ::Huge sigh::
Okay, what else. So much happened that it’s hard to describe this guy. It’s almost impossible. I interrupted the class in the middle to ask if I could continue my license in Vancouver, and made him go into a rant about how much he hated -but didn’t hate- the graduated license system. It was very circular, like he was going to rant about how much he hated it... But then thought I was some sort of spy for “the other schools” and backpedaled. OH yes! I nearly forgot to mention that he began with an actual rant about how he read an article in Reader’s Digest about an untrained driver who killed some trucker when the truck *exploded*. He had issues with the “explosion” part, saying cars don’t explode and then went into great detail about describing how he had been an engineering teacher and that gasoline did not explode. Okay. At this point, it was fairly early on, I was still not drawing and paying attention. So that was fine.
Oh yes, Maurice also assumed that we would all be taught to drive by our fathers or, in the case of the girls, boyfriends (he sort of took for granted that all the women there had boyfriends, were straight, and actually were women), and that our father’s were miners. I’m like “oh my god, how much more lame can this get.” Usually I’d suffer through this kind of thing, but I found myself thinking “Isn’t there some amount of money father can pay to get me out of this? I mean, I know we’re paying for me to be here, but I’m not learning and this is pointless, and if all these mentally deficient people can get their licenses right quick, I’m CERTAIN I can get it without even studying or practicing.” I sound so stuck-up, but that place made me feel rich and petty and spoiled.
He also spent nearly fifteen minutes explaining WHY we would get a ten minute break at 9:00PM and no other breaks and why the classes ended and began as they did. It was basically a big rant about the ministry, and how he kept “out foxing” businessmen. This guy really hates corporation, which makes me kind of want to defend.... well... big business. I keep feeling like screaming “Money isn’t bad, it isn’t some sort of quaint Christian sin to have MONEY, and big corporate things aren’t the devil, and for GOD’S sake, man, stop pretending you know about psychology, computers, and how your brain functions, because what makes people good drivers is not “smart” or “intelligent”, it’s their capacity to inhibit! Having a frontal lobe! And many clinically mentally retarded people do not have a fully functioning frontal lobe, so even if after 7 hours of drilling it in to them that a right turn should not be taken too wide, they will NOT be able to drive defensively in a life-or-death situation. It’s just NOT going to happen!” ::Few:: But I didn’t. I kept my mouth shut and only made jokes about being “from the city”. Which is pretty bad, because we live in a relatively small city, and this guy thinks it’s “the big time”. Let me tell you, our drivers are so considerate. They actually let you PASS. And he thinks this is the big city where anything can happen- give me a BREAK. The worst that happens here is people going over 40MPH in a hospital zone. (9_9).
If I can think of anything else, I'm going to post it tomorrow. I have to go study for Novel Study, I'm dead tired, yesterday I taught my mom how to use ICQ, installed games on her system, Wednesday is a short-period day, and that's all the news I have that doesn't involve driver's ed.
March 6th: Well, now my driving instructor figures he’s clairvoyant, and proceeded in giving us a bunch of examples that only proved he was slightly more observant of people’s attitude than most. Great. (9_9) He thinks he’s Ms. Cleo. Hm. I’ll spare you the boring details of the “wear your seat belt” lecture.
Yesterday I took my novel study exam. It went fairly well, aside from the fact I took it in a back closet of the guidance department. (>_<) It was really noisy, I could hear all the conversations between the guidance councilors and the students, PLUS the wall next to me was the pencil sharpener... Oh, and there was a discussion about the IB program and double-cohort graduation right when I was in the middle of the last essay. But I guess that was fine, since the reading piece for the exam was Stephen Leacock, who is so funny. We had to read his work How to Live to Be 200, which satirized new-aged health fanatics. Just go read it. It’s not too long, and is definitely worth it to hear about his pet bacilli, who he felt genuine grief for when he buried it in the back yard after it was hit by an automobile. (^_~)
Of course, there’s not much else to say about today since I didn’t go to school at all. I saw my SO after I decided to get up, and they were also nice enough to give me a ride to driver’s ed. (^_^)! Yay! And also in happy news, thanks again to ABC, who is sending me Sailor Moon Season First! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Hm, not much else to tell. Other than I got 13 hours of sleep last night. ::Stretch:: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... But I did have some very strange dreams that I can’t quite remember, but do know made me anxious... IMPENDING DOOM!
I shall sign off with that thought.
March 13th: Well, since I’m on spring break, I haven’t written in a while because nothing has happened. But today was semi-exciting. Oh; first, yesterday I saw my friend after a long while and we spent the day together. (^_^) Yay. Today was not as fun. We went out shopping and got the patterns for my grad outfit, but we still have to find a seamstress. (-_-) I also picked up my Earthian tapes! WOOOO! That’s the good part. Now, the bad part... Driving school. Oh. My. God. I was afraid I’d be late if I took the bus, so I called a cab. It was 15 minutes late for 6:30, the time I had to leave to be on time (even though I called ahead). It turned out it was the guy’s first day on the job, and I had to give him directions. (>_<) But I got there, and luckily Morice was engaged in conversation so the class was delayed. Few. But it gets worse. I think that man managed to insult practically everybody in the class today. Once again he babbled trash proving he knows nothing about the psychology of post-accident trauma, and that YES, people DO eventually get over death. But that’s not the insulting part. Today we were treated to his anti-American rant. And I quote: “Americans are morons! Have you ever watched American TV? It’s the most brain-dead thing ever. They’re such stupid.... ::Trails off into mumbles::”
Well, he managed to insult me in two different areas; Television (Never insult TV around me ^_~) and American-bashing. Then for whatever reason he gets on the subject of the Taliban. There was this poor middle-eastern kid at the back of the room, who’s like sinking into his chair at every word. Then Maurice says “I understand what Bin Laden was trying to do! I mean, attacking the Americans, but I’m not condoning the lives he took... I’m not on your side yet ::Looks at middle-eastern kid::”
The guy was like spluttering, saying “I don’t agree with what he did!!!!”, but Maurice seemed not to care about that part. (o_0).
Anyway, I’m off to finish watching Earthian. (^_^)
March 18th: Well, today was a pretty awful day. First day back to school, and boring as hell. Got home for lunch only to break 4 eggs in attempt to make myself a meal. Then it took me three tries to get to driving school. First I called my SO, who was asleep, so they couldn’t drive me. Then went to wait for the bus, but on the wrong side of the road (o_0) and it drove right past. So I ran all the way home and called the cab service. Luckily I saw a cab in the South End as I was dashing back home, so I only had to wait two seconds for it to arrive. I got to the lesson in time. Today’s lesson was: Maurice tries to get us to entrap his competition, don’t run over children. He begins by telling us a story about a kid who was so scared his hair fell out. No, people... No. The IMPACT with the car made his hair fall out. (9_9) Then Maurice proceeds in badgering this girl who saw her friend run over. Now, the girl was obviously over the incident, but Maurice has this idea that people simply never ever get over death, no matter who dies. They will NEVER be the same again. Oh, come on. That’s true to a point, but not in the extent that he means. He kept explaining deaths that were akin to this girl’s friend, and saying “I’m seeing your eyes get watery”. And she’s like “Ahh... No? I’m fine?” And inching away from him.
Then he starts talking about his competitor (the same driving school he keeps regularly down-blasting), and telling us how aweful it is to spread rumors like his rival instructor. So he tells us “This guy has a big mouth, so if you can get him to talk, ask him about Laurentian driving school, and get him to spill. Then testify in court, because we’re going to slap a supoena on him!” Okay, for all who don’t know, what Maurice asked us to do is called entrapment. That’s akin to baiting somebody so they eventually say what you want, but obviously it wasn’t 100% of their free will. Oh-KAY.
Not too much else to tell. Sad the holidays are over, but Easter is coming up. Going to the university library tomorrow with the class.
March 23rd: Well, I’d better write something so people don’t get the idea that I’ve died. I am alive, just terribly boring. The highlight of my week? Writing an expository essay and joining a Harry Potter message board. Isn’t that sad? (-_-) Now we all know why I haven’t written. I don’t even have that much to complain about, other than the fact it suddenly became hugely cold (>_<) argh. The school trip to the library was uneventful, if not entertaining because Becky and I kept quoting the guy giving the tour. Oh, speaking of Beck, I have to send my “have a good trip” salutations to her! (^_^) Have fun in the big TO. Bring me back a fine mink coat.
I’ve been writing a lot of my HP spoof as well... I should really be working on my novel, though. We’ll see what comes of the weekend. (^_^) Driving school is just as it always was, boring and full of assumption. The class suddenly got bigger last week. (o_0) Ohhhhhhhh well!
April 1st: Woo! Last Wednesday was my last driving class! ::Does happy dance:: I just have to do 10 in-car lessons after taking my G1, and I’m all set... Well, not “all set”, but whatever. Now I just have to wait for the ministry to stop striking so I can get the test and the books to study. (o_0) Anyway... Happy Easter to everybody, I’m glad that’s gone by. I got my favorite ice-cream and my SO is taking me out to eat later today. But this morning sucked so bad... I was taking a shower, and at first- the hot water wouldn’t turn on. I finally got it to work, only to find that it wouldn’t turn off. Ack! We had to call the plumber, who is currently downstairs working on the faucets. (-_-)
The long weekend was fine, though. I got half my poetry unit for Writer’s Craft finished. Oh speaking of writing, did I say I finished with 98% in Novel Study? Well I did. (^_^) Yay! When I wasn’t working on school stuff, I was writing the parody. It’s coming along well, and I’ve just got an idea for a new one as well. (^_^;) Er, not much else to say. Life has been pretty standard for the past couple of weeks. OH! I nearly forgot. I’ve started shopping for my grad ensemble for this year. It’s of my own design, so the seamstress has quite a job ahead of her. (^_~)
April 12th: Well, it’s been a fairy uneventful week. I took a test for English and handed in my Poetry Anthology, so I’m happy I don’t have work for the weekend. I’ll hopefully get to relax. Earlier in the week I went shopping, which went all right. I got myself a really spiffy new wig. (^_^) Yay! ::Yawns:: I’ve been so tired, though. I have no idea why. Zzz... (-_-) Let’s see... I can’t really remember much else that happened; today my mom was out for blood tests, so I got Timbits, but that’s not exactly Earth-shattering news. Oh yes, I got my independent learning course mark, even though the strike is still on and preventing me from taking my driving test, but anyway... I finished with 98%. Woo hoo! Apparently I’m one of the few who actually went through with completing the entire thing. (o_0) S-M-R-T. I mean... S-M-A-R-T! ::Does the cha-cha dance::
The weather suddenly became nice. Very warm, although it rained today. I can’t wait until the snow melts and the ice on the lake disappears. I want to swim here one last time before moving away. Speaking of which... The planning for that is going pretty well. We’re either going to buy furniture there, or here and ship it. The latter is looking more promising. ::Fingers crossed for apartment within walking distance of the school:: Nnnn! (>_<)
April 16th: Feeeeee-eeeeew! We’ve got a balmy 25°C today, enough that we turned on our air conditioner. And only two days ago we had the furnace going; talk about global warming, but this is ridiculous! (>_<) Yesterday I went to the bank to open up a chequing account, and the lady that served me was really inept. She kept spelling the names wrong and so forth... Needless to say I have to go back again sometime to have things sorted out. After that I got home and had a nice long walk with my SO. Everybody was out and about, walking, biking, and blaring music from their parked cars. Woo digiddy. (9_9) The warm weather also brings my loud neighbors out. This morning I had jarring stomach pains (food poisoning or something) and tried to get some extra sleep by only going to afternoon class, but I couldn’t fall back asleep because of those lil’ bastards. The Comp Sci room was boiling (-_-¿) I feel sorry for our teacher, who was wearing a woolen turtle-neck and sweater over top! Phew. Oh, we also had nice brown water today, which sucks because just yesterday my mother went shopping for new white clothes that she washed today - in the rusty water - hope they’re not ruined. (-_¬`)
April 19th: Not a lot of people went to school today. I actually thought about not getting up because I had no afternoon class, but went anyway... Oh well, we did some work in English. (o_0) After that I went home, did my homework, and went back to sleep; when I woke up Adrienne was on-line, so we chatted for a good long bit. It was a really funny conversation too (^_^)... She wants to get a tattoo, and I was suggesting things. Anyway, after that, my SO and I went for a walk. It was really windy! They went home shortly after, and I went out to dinner. I’m getting an awful cold, my throat hurts and I’m all congested. I’ll just try to get a good night’s sleep.
April 20th: I am going to murder my neighbors. So much for getting sleep; the children were screaming bloody murder at 10:00AM, so was their father, and they were revving their ATV. Super.
PS: Going to murder them with no regret whatsoever.
April 21st: Well, I got my apartment in Vancouver pretty much settled out. One woman owns the buildings and houses in one as well (that’s the one I’m going for) but she won’t know of any vacancies until the first week of May; but it sounded too good to pass up. Even though it’s not within walking distance of the school, there’s a bus stop right in front and a line that goes directly to the school. Plus the landlady knew all about VFS, so that’s a step in the right direction. She also said she takes care of her tenants (like seeing their home at night and so forth), so, now we know why I choose that one. Few. (^_^) I do hope she has an entry. (>_<) Nothing much else happened since I’m not feeling well; I couldn’t go out. Oh, last night we watched the film The Black Knight, it actually was really funny. I’d recommend it as long as you’re already in a good mood, otherwise you’ll just be annoyed.
April 22nd: Slept in all day today. Freaking cold... (-_-) I have to go to class tomorrow because it’s the day independent study dates are being handed out. Hopefully Mrs. Ames didn’t do that today for some obscure reason. ::Dies:: Urgh... I feel so icky. (>_<) Mmrrr......
April 24th: Adrienne came back today! I went to school the entire day, then around 7:00PM all the old gang got together and ate. They rented Zoolander, the new movie, but I had to leave before watching it. Unlike them I have early classes and homework. I think she’s leaving again on Saturday; hopefully she’ll drop by the school tomorrow and come keep me company. (^_^) Oh, when we were in Blockbuster, there was a big Harry Potter display advertising the movie release. I was very tempted to steal it. (^_^¿) And I also spent some of today working on my Independent Study Oral, which I’m presenting May 22nd. The first day! Woohoo!
April 25th: Horrible weather today, seriously... It keeps hailing off and on. Class this morning was kind of boring; we took notes in Writer’s Craft when we were supposed to be reading for a presentation. We have to do a short story analysis. Becky and I are doing The Old Demon by Pearl S. Buck. It is such an assish story. I mean, really; it’s set during World War II, in a Chinese village that’s surrounded by a dammed-off river. The main character is Old Mrs. Wang, and her son, Little Pig Wang. ::Coughs:: Yea, anyway, the Japanese attack their city and one of them is wounded. The villagers flee, except Mrs. Wang, who takes care of the injured pilot until he dies. Then she sees the rest of the army approaching, so she lifts the dam and everybody is swept away. The End. ::Rolls eyes:: Oh my lord. (>_<) Speaking of the lord, after I got home during my spare, religious people came to my door. ::Buwhahah!:: They compared religion to a buffet (the hell??), and asked me what I thought about that. I’m like “Buffets are expensive, and so is religion, I have to go now because I’m cold!” ::Slams door in their face::
April 29th: Well, I went this morning because I thought I was presenting, but Becky didn’t show up. Luckily we can just go tomorrow. She called me after school, to explain how sick she was (not that I was mad at her... o_0` I don’t see why I would be since the teacher said I wouldn’t lose marks for doing the presentation alone). So we’re going tomorrow. Because there was an announcement that the computer lab was being reimaged, I didn’t go and slept in until 2PM (after my first class, of course ^_^), but I got the “you are truant” ‘phone call anyway. (o_0) The hell? Did the Prof. take attendance for unknown reasons? We couldn’t have had class in another lab, because I don’t think there are any others that have Visual Basic installed. Oh well, I’ll find out tomorrow what happened. Hopefully nothing important.
Oh, did I mention that I entered that on-line poetry contest and won a publishing thing? I was just reminded from talking to Aris about it... I’m going to be published (Woo, my third officially published copyrighted poem to date!)... And I’m still in the running for winning a cash prize. I hope I do- I could use some rent money.
The weather here is getting a bit better. It’s slightly warmer and nicely sunny... Not much else to say... Except Adrienne got herself a CD burner and is going to get me a bunch more anime. Gosh, am I ever in her debt now. (^_^) Tee hee... OH! One more thing, my SO went to the doctors to get radioactive testing (whoa), and I hope they’re A-OK when the tests come back. ::Fingers crossed::
April 30th: So I went to school this morning, and was promptly told I had to see Mrs. Biford because of the fact I didn’t sign out... So I waited in this huge line of students to go see her, she marked me as warned, and then I sprinted off to my presentation, barely making it in time to start (I was locked out of the class for a bit because of the door/lock set up... thing). So Becky and I went, and everything turned out fine from there. (^_^) The second group that went did a story on a woman who’s delusional and thinks her dead mother set her up with her dream man. (o_0`) Whoop, whoop, whoop. I also went to Programming... And found out next Tuesday we have a test. Just what I had been dreading. So for the next five days, studying will be my life... Good god. (-_-) After that I walked home with Pat and Kyle, and it was really sunny... I mention this because two minutes after I actually got home, it suddenly started hailing. ::X-Files tune::
I ate dinner, which was fish, then vomited it all up. That was the highlight of my day. I don’t know what it was- an allergic reaction or something. Apparently my blood pressure dropped, then got really high, and my heart slowed down (??? AHH!), so I threw up my dinner, then had to lie down. My chest was all splotchy too, like allergies- but I’ve eaten that kind of fish millions of times before. (o.o) Eep. I hope I haven’t been poisoned...
May 2nd: No programming class today, so I went to the seamstress for my graduation ensemble. It was the preliminary fitting; everything was in pieces. It kind of came together after a lot of pinning and tiresome standing, and “lift this, hold that, walk, turn”. Anyway, nothing other than that happened as for eventfulness.
Oh yes! Yesterday I found out I’ve got a permanent apartment in Vancouver. It’s on the 17th floor of a building with an ocean view. It’s a studio, as well (no divisions). ^_^
May 5th: Well, we went shopping today and also got passport pictures taken. (^_^) Yay. Mine looks awful, but that’s to be expected. I don’t have much to say, since I’ve been just writing and studying for the programming test for the past few days. (>_<) ::Dies:: Sometimes, it would be nice if I were much smarter than I already am. ::Ponders:: Then I could be a super-genius and take over the world, which would lead to much more assured prowess. Hm. ::Stretch:: Anyhoo. I hope I didn’t miss anything when I didn’t go to class on Friday. I figured it wouldn’t be worth it, since battle of the bands was going on, anyway, and classes would probably be canceled.
May 7th: After the computer test (blargh) we went to see Spider Man today. Very cool movie; I wore my white wig and furry white coat. Got some interesting looks, but hey- (^_^) It was all in the super-hero spirit. I really liked the Green Goblin. Excellent character, actually reminded me a bit of my father. ::Laughs:: Well, when he was sane at any rate. The animation was great- though the end kiss scene was just so wrong. Graveyard? Grief? Do these words mean anything to people? Geez. But other than that it was just so much fun to watch- oh yes, and the “Go web, go!” bit made me burst into giggles. (^_~) I highly recommend going seeing this movie, even if you don’t want to add to the hype.
May 8th: The short story thing is going really well. It’s hilarious to work with Maggie and Beck. We had all these scenarios (since we had to create our own short story, setting, plot and characters). At one point we had this guy who lived with dolphins, but he kept having to go up for air- so the dolphins bashed his head against a rock in attempts to make a blow-hole. It didn’t work, he died, and they ate him. We also had an elevator that went through time, and trees that raped random passers-by. (^_^) The end product is a story about a necromancer boy that can’t control his powers (and to think, the other two members of the group aren’t even Harry Potter fans, and we still came up with that). I even drew a title page. (`^_^´) Hehehe!!! I have to post newspaper clippings for the school page- got that new assignment for programming class. Woo hoo. ::Unenthusiastic clapping::
May 10th: Well, I thought I had an English test today, but it was moved to Monday. Now my group is presenting the short story next Friday instead of Thursday. I guess that’s all set. I’m glad, though. Now I have the weekend to study. Becky was harassing me to go out to lunch with her- which I said we would do on Tuesday since I was busy doing work at noon today. Computer class was uneventful, though the teacher appeared to be grading out tests (finally). For whatever reason I can’t get this stupid Javascript to work. (>_<) Anyway... When I got home, my next door neighbors were jack-hammering rocks. ::Holds head:: They still are too. At least it’s Friday, and I can escape to eat dinner. ::Dies::
May 12th: Happy mother’s day! (^_^) Today was fairly uneventful. Yesterday my SO and I went to the mall to escape my stupid ass of a neighbor who jackhammered all yesterday and this morning (even though when we approached him yesterday, he said he would stop by today. What a liar). Anyway- oh, today, while I was eating lunch, I looked out the window, and there’s a six year-old kid going down the hill in front of my house on a skateboard. Nothing strange about that, except he was peeing. He was standing up, too far away to see anything, but the fact he was obviously taking a leak over the curb as he rolled down the street. (o_0) I was like “What the hell? ::Laughing so hard::” Anyway, wish me luck on my English test tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll do well, and I’m nervous about getting my Programming exam back. ::Hyperventilates and passes out::
May 18th: Yesterday our dishwasher broke... So I was stuck doing the lunch dishes today (-_-). Long and boring- speaking of which, an “ethnic telemarketer” called me today, and had me take a survey about if I only hung around with people with the same race and religion as myself. (o_0) How about... No? I don’t even notice that stuff until somebody *tells me*. I couldn’t even answer the “do you see yourself as a race?” question. (>_<) Tomorrow I’m making dinner! Woo! Because Sunday has been Spaghetti/Lasagna night for as long as I can remember, I’ve now voted to cook that night because I absolutely hate those two dishes. ::Dies::
Last night I had a dream that the city flooded and I nearly died. Thought I’d just mention that. Just in case it comes true in the near future and this is all that remains of my prediction ::Cough::Nostradamus::Cough::. (^_~) It’s been a pretty uneventful week. The short story presentation went well, really funny- I think the audience was entertained. When we asked who should play the characters, Jenny said I should be Luke because “I’ look like I know about stuff like that- resurrecting the dead and so forth”. ::Laughs:: The other presentations were pretty good as well; a lot of good writers are in the class. Later in the week I found out signing up for grad dance tables and buying tickets is starting after this long weekend (Victoria Day), so I started organizing my table. I have Eric, Matt, Me, Mary, my SO, and maybe Samantha... We have to have ten, but I’ll leave a couple spaces for dates of the people I’ve already invited. (^_^)
I had my Independent Study interview on Friday, and took the afternoon off. I present on the twenty second. ::Fingers crossed:: Oh! Last night we watched the movie From Hell. It was an interpretation of the Jack the Ripper story. Very cool; I liked the setting. 18th century rules! Woo! (^_^) I need a riding cloak and a top hat, now. Maybe a stylish cane too.
Oh, and I passed the programming exam. (^_^)
May 21st: I had a great weekend. Very relaxing. Yesterday I had dinner at my SO’s house, but went home early to work on my independent study stuff. Tomorrow is my presentation. I got to school today, only to find out that my professor didn’t show up. That was okay, since Becky and I had a really fun time drawing pictures of people we don’t like. ::Laughs:: Seriously, we were just thinking of the weirdest things- and complaining about fast food, which ended up in designing the “incomplete bun graduation ensemble”. Mmhm. Don’t ask.
I also inquired (again) about grad tickets. Did I talk about the first time I did? Probably, but I’ll say it again... I went up to the secretaries, and the teachers, and the principal, asking about grad. None of them knew what was going on. They were all like “Find the students in charge”.
Me: “Students in charge? I probably don’t know them. Who’s the supervising teacher?”
Secretary: “The principal, probably.”
Principal: “Hello, Viger! What can I do for you?”
Me: “I need to know about grad tickets and setting up a table.”
Principal: “See one of the grad committee kids.”
Me: “I don’t know them. Is there a table for losers with no friends?”
Principal: “Never call yourself a loser- let other people do that.”
Me: “... Er. Okay...”
Principal: “You’re cool.”
Me: “... So you’ve left the entire grad organization to students?”
Principal: “Yes.”
Me: “Is that really wise?”
Principal: “...”
Me: “(o_0)...” ::Leaves::
So my school pretty much sucks the nut. But that’s okay. I’m buying the tickets for my SO and I tomorrow. Afterwards Becky invited us to Respect is Burning, a club. That should be cool. I also talked to Mary today, who was attempting to invite Paul to grad, even though he hated his own (last year). Poor thing. Both of them- poor things. I hope stuff gets sorted out for them. (´o_o`) Mary was also worried about Anus (a.k.a.: Scott) who was being a bastard toward her. But he’s that way to everybody- when I went to ask about tickets at the grad booth today, he nearly slammed the grid in my face. What a loser.
Hm, that’s about all for now. Not too much has happened other than that- my neighbors finally quieted down, though some ass across the road decided to mow his lawn at 6AM this morning. Luckily I was up already with stomach pains, slouching off to school. Bleargh. Why was I cursed with this psychosomatic issue!
May 22nd: The presentation is over! Woohoo! ::Relief:: (^_^) It went fine- kind of boring, but that couldn’t be helped. I’m just glad it’s done. The grad tickets weren’t on sale today; apparently it’s been rescheduled to tomorrow. That’s much worse for me, since I would usually be away during lunch on a day One. Oh well. My SO and I went for a walk today, and planned to shop tomorrow. It’s an anniversary present to each other. Hee hee! Not much else happened today, other than warm whether. Ahhh... Finally, I can walk around without a huge coat. Unfortunately with the heat comes wind, so it’s gusting like insanity outside. (o_@) I think there are only twenty two more days of school left- and I’m pretty much done everything for English. Woo! (^_^)
May 24th: Maggie and Elise presented in English today; they did Science Fiction and Journal Writing respectively. Both were really good presentations. Afterward, Becky & co. and I went to buy grad tickets. Loe and behold, the Student’s Council booth was closed, and a YMCA stand was setting up in front of it. So we went to the office. They asked the secretaries, even though I already knew and told them, that the secretaries would say “I don’t know”. So the others were about to leave, when I took over and told the secretary what I had gone through in attempts to get grad tickets, and that we had been jerked around all week about this. I had even been told by Carry, who was on the council, that it was Friday for sure. So the secretary pages Carry, who arrives with grad-tickets in hand. She’s all disturbed because of the YMCA presentation that’s going on in front of the ticket booth, but decides that she’ll sell them in the guidance office instead. So we bought our tickets. Woo hoo! Unfortunately I couldn’t sign up the rest of my table until they actually bought tickets, so, at the moment, it’s just my SO and I.
I went to computer class to complete trouble-shooting the script I was writing for Mr. Scully, and gave it to our professor to hand over to him. The RPG is coming along nicely, though everybody doubts we’ll be done by the end of the school year. After class I went home, just to drop off my stuff, then went to take my driving test. It was the most humiliating and irritating thing I’ve ever done. First we went to see Maruice for the answer book, that I attempted to study while he shouted conversation at my mother from the next room. But I got through the answers, and then went to take the test. Unfortunately, the place was packed. There wasn’t even sitting room (some people had gone and sat down on tables due to lack of chairs). But we didn’t have to wait too long. Eventually I went up to the main counter and had my ID checked, and answered questions about my health. I then had my picture taken (I looked pretty good in it too), then the eye exam came. That was gross. Really really gross. There was a little machine to look into for checking the eyes- and of course everybody who had gone by so far had leaned their head against it. It was disgusting. Shiny with sweat and grease... I thought I would vomit. I didn’t put my face right against it, so all the numbers in my upper field of vision were blurry. I still got 20/20 thought. Funny that. Anyway, so off I went for the actual test. Half of it was road signs, and the other was practical knowledge. I only missed one mark because of a strangely worded question. But I passed. Woo... It wasn’t as eventful as I thought it would be. So my very first driving lesson (in a car... whooooo) is on Tuesday after school.
Once we finished the whole driving arrangements, my mother and I went to a furniture store to get a new couch leg made. It didn’t take too much time at all (they did it right in the store o_0). I just lounged on the couches that were for sale until we were ready to leave. We picked up some Subway then went home. A couple of hours later the whole family went to Culpeppers. It was funny to see them again... Did I write about the fact my SO and I went there for our anniversary? It was on Thursday we celebrated (since the actual anniversary is on Victoria day). We went shopping and I took my SO out for dinner. I bought new shirts; a sheer black sparkly one with a black tank underneath, two colored tank tops, and a deep wine silk chemise. I can’t believe my luck at thrift stores (since that’s where I shop for these things).
Oh, this weekend my SO is out of town to see the new baby. Well, not that new- I think it’s the baby’s first birthday or some such tripe. Bleh. I don’t see the point in buying presents for something that can hardly think for itself. Why not just give things meant for the mother? That’s where everything goes, anyway. Oh well.
May 28th: Well, today was my first driving lesson! Woo! It wasn’t as exciting as I thought, though. It was pretty easy, actually... I only had trouble with staying too close to the sidewalk and speeding. Other than that, I did all right. My mother saw me leave, and said I did it like a pro. (^_^) I guess all those driving games paid off. I’m not sure when my next lesson is since my instructor is leaving for Toronto for the rest of the week (o_0). Supposedly she’s going to call me on Sunday. Anyway, after that my SO and I went out for a couple of drinks and sat around outside until the bugs devoured us and we died a horrible, horrible death.
Oh, and grad is being held at the same place as last year.
